Primary Prevention Youth Education Program

Primary prevention for domestic violence is aimed at attempting to reduce the likelihood of violence from occurring before an instance ever takes place, which is what we are trying to do in Flagler County. The Youth Advocate at Family Life Center goes to local schools and organizations that work with youth to teach them about healthy relationships, bullying, dating violence, and other topics that relate to domestic violence.

Signs of a Healthy Relationship Include:

  • Mutual Respect
  • Forgiveness
  • Honest Communication
  • Empathy
  • Shared Responsibility
  • Trust
  • Support
  • Effort
  • Commitment

To raise awareness in Flagler County the Youth Advocate organizes a Community Action Team and meets quarterly with them to brainstorm ideas and discuss things happening in the community. A Community Action Team is a group of individuals united in the cause of non-violence and promoting healthy relationships through public campaigns to effect social change and community responsibility.

Anyone can join the Community Action Team. For more information call: (386) 437-7747.
